A very beautiful place. Very serene in the middle of the city. Well manicured grounds. Walk across to Coconut Island as well. This is just a quiet, beautiful garden park. Spend an hour walking around…Full review by Arnold C

Beautiful park. Lovely photo ops on the bridges and around the plantings and ponds. It was a peaceful experience. Loved all the exotic (to us) birds.Full review by boppapat

It depends upon what you like doing. This is not a botanical garden in the sense of strolling through a place that has featured botanical displays, such as the New York Botanical Garden. This is more a garden that could be used for a round of golf, if they allowed it. It has large swaths of grass, with select plants located throughout. It left me with the impression of being more of a public park to relax or picnic in, rather than a place of botanical displays. The plants that are there are established specimen plants, such as cycads and banyan trees. There are also bridges over water features. So think of it more resembling a public park rather than a botanical garden with floral displays. And like a public park, there is no cost.

Queen Liliuokalani park is open 24 hours but is not lit up, by any means...so although technically it is open, I would not advise anything other than a nice stroll along its paved sidewalk perimeter. Hilo town is not really a "night life" kind of town and most places close up early...about 6-9pm. Kailua-Kona side is your night-life area, but if you like the quiet, less busy, easy going country type of atmosphere, Hilo town is da-best!
