Accounts for teenagers using Meta's platform, especially Instagram, will be getting new protections for direct messages and to help users spot potential scammers.

The update will impact the accounts of family vloggers/creators and parents running accounts for "kidfluencers," both of which have faced criticism for the risks associated with sharing children's lives on social media.

The new features add on to its existing "teen accounts" and make it easier to block users, while adult-run accounts of children get further restrictions.
