The American Red Cross is urging donors to make an appointment to give blood or platelets to help keep the blood supply strong this winter.  Type O negative blood donors and those giving platelets are especially in need at the moment.

Red Cross added that in honor of January being National Blood Donor Month, the NFL is partnering with blood donation organizations for the sixth year and inviting fans to join their lifesaving efforts.
