The Arctic blast is here! This week (especially early this week), we’re experiencing the coldest air of the season so far. Cold Weather Advisories are in effect through early Tuesday morning, and will likely be extended into Wednesday as well.

Now that snow showers have wrapped up, we are left with arctic air. That will result in some bitter cold temperatures before improvements are made after the mid week.

A potent surge of Arctic air starts settling in Monday evening as a massive dip in the jet stream pulls in frigid air across the entire eastern half of the country. An arctic blast that is expected to bring wind chills to double digits below zero has led forecasters to issue a cold weather advisory this week.

Freezing winds are expected to remain in the area until Wednesday. Monday and Tuesday morning are expected to be the coldest periods of the stretch. Monday's high will be 10 and the low minus 6. Tuesday's high will be 5 and the low minus 1,
