The Houston Astros traded Forrest Whitley to the Tampa Bay Rays for cash on Friday, sending the struggling right-hander to a new home after he was once a highly regarded prospect.

Whitley entered the 2022 season as the Astros' No. 5 prospect, but never quite found his footing in the big leagues.

Whitley, who was converted from starter to reliever last year, was in line to make Houston’s Opening Day roster this year before a left knee bone bruise in Spring Training derailed him.
