Tyree Smith — also known as the ‘Bridgeport Cannibal Killer’ — was granted a conditional release by the Connecticut Psychiatric Security Review Board on Feb. 22. In 2013, Smith was declared not guilty by reason of insanity in connection to Angel Gonzalez’s death.

Doctors who’ve been treating Tyree Smith said he’s been fully rehabilitated, thanks to medications that quelled the voices in his head.

The Psychiatric Security Review Board in Middletown granted conditional release to Connecticut man from a maximum-security mental health facility after he was declared not guilty by reason of insanity for using a hatchet to kill a victim and then devouring their body parts.
