Many think their own kid would never become a sextortion victim but they absolutely can, says Connor Hagan, a public affairs officer with the FBI's Houston field office.

The FBI collects data on internet crimes through its website, ice.gov, including information on government impersonation crimes, Hagan Said. The website covers all states and all types of scam.

If they look too good to be true, they probably are. 12News spoke with Connor Hagan who works for the FBI. He says older adults are usually the targets of these scams.

Some of FBI Houston's agents, investigators and task force officers were those who responded to the mass shooting at Santa Fe High School in 2018, Hagan said.
