A group of migrants the Trump administration sent to a mega-prison in El Salvador earlier this year must now have an opportunity to challenge their removal under the Alien Enemies Act, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

The ruling doesn’t apply to Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Salvadoran man whose deportation became a focal point of Democratic resistance to Trump's immigration policies.

U.S. Judge James E. Boasberg said deportees were “plainly deprived” of their right to contest their removals before being flown to a Salvadoran prison in March.
