Lower Decks is the ninth addition to the Star Trek series collection. Released in 2020, it is the only animated series released by the franchise since Star Trek: The Animated Series.

Previous seasons of Lower Decks featured the likes of Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi, John de Lancie as Q, Nana Visitor as Kira Nerys, and Armin Shimerman as Quark, among others. "There might be other cameos. Who knows?" Newsome says, playfully, of season 5. In other words, there will be others.
