The indictment charges McIver with "forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers," New Jersey U.S. Attorney Alina Habba said.

U.S. Rep. LaMonica McIver, a Democrat representing New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District, is facing two felony assault charges in connection with a confrontation at Delaney Hall on May 9.

McIver says she'll plead not guilty to the charges, which she says are politically motivated. "The facts of this case will prove I was simply doing my job," the representative said in a statement.
