U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who was appointed during President Donald Trump's first term, recently announced plans to step down. DeJoy wrote a resignation letter to the USPS's Board of Governors on Feb. 17 outlining his service through a global pandemic and inflation.

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has notified the U.S. Postal Service's board that it's time to begin the process of identifying his successor to lead the 250-year-old postal network, USPS announced on Tuesday.

Louis DeJoy, the head of the United States Postal Service, said he intends to step down after five years in the role.
