Weather experts have confirmed that 12 tornadoes touched down in Michigan at the end of March in an unusually large spate that damaged buildings and trees. Michigan averages about 15 tornadoes a year, according to the state's website, and with two more twisters touching down on April 2, a total of 14 have already hit in 2025.

In confirming the 12th tornado touchdown, the National Weather Service said at least two more areas are still being investigated for twister damage.
