Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has vowed to remain in power to oversee the implementation of a new Japan-U.S. tariff agreement

Embattled Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba denied media reports that he is set to announce his resignation, in an apparent bid to extend his premiership despite an election setback earlier in the week.

With the tariff deal with the U.S. paving the way for his possible departure, Japanese media said Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba is expected to soon announce plans to step down in August.
