The shooting happened at about 10:15 p.m. on Friday at the parking lot of the Marriot Hotel at 50 N. Martingale Road, Schaumburg police said. Police responded to the call of a woman shot. She was taken to Lutheran General Hospital where she later died. A suspect was taken into custody at the scene, Schaumburg police said.

Another dog, named Bear, was shot four times and is currently recovering and in need of medical treatment, the family said.
