An American woman who was detained for weeks in Afghanistan by the Taliban has been released. WASHINGTON — An American woman detained for weeks in Afghanistan by the Taliban has been released from custody, according to a person familiar with the matter and a social media post Saturday from a longtime U.S. diplomat.

Faye Hall is one of four Americans known to have been released by the Taliban this year. She called on President Trump to help other women jailed in Afghanistan.
