The Maritime Sikh Society, which Gursimran Kaur's family is a part of, shared in an update on GoFundMe on Friday, Oct. 25, that they had raised over $140,000 ($194,000 Canadian dollars) in funds to benefit her “bereaved family” — some of whom had been in India trying to fly to Canada for Kaur’s funeral.

Nineteen-year-old Canadian Walmart employee Gursimran Kaur was identified as the teen found dead in the walk-in oven of the Walmart bakery on Mumford Road in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on October 19, 2024.

According to reports, both the daughter and her mother had been employed at the Mumford Road Walmart for the past two years and were well-known within Halifaxs Sikh community.
