YouTube has brought its affiliate program to India, letting uploaders tag products in their videos and earn referrals.

YouTube’s affiliate program caters to the demands of India’s thriving creator economy, where consumers increasingly rely on digital video for shopping recommendations. According to YouTube, over 65% of Indian consumers trust creators’ recommendations over traditional advertising, signalling a strong foundation for the success of this new feature.

YouTube is bringing its affiliate program to India so creators can tag products in their videos and earn referral money. The company is partnering with Walmart-owned Flipkart and fashion and lifestyle e-commerce service Myntra,

Eligible Indian YouTube creators could earn almost 100 per cent of the commission from the product they purchase. Commission will be calculated based on the total purchase price, excluding delivery fees.

The new offering is part of YouTube’s Shopping affiliate programme that is open for select content creators in the country.
