Judge Dale Ho, a Biden appointee, noted in the New York mayor’s case that the government’s prosecutorial discretion is broad but also that the judiciary has an independent role to play.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said the resignations raised “serious questions about the long-term future of this mayoral administration.” She planned to meet with elected officials to discuss “the path forward.”

Four of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ deputies have resigned amid the fallout over the Justice Department’s move to dismiss corruption charges against Adams last week.

Their actions follow the resignation of U.S. Attorney Danielle Sassoon and five high-ranking Justice Department officials last week.
