Syracuse, NY -- The charred remains of Chandrika ... and rain was pouring into the house through a hole in the roof. Inside, squatters had left mattresses in the dining room and bedrooms.
However, the roof of the house had collapsed into the attic. The cause of the fire is unknown. The Syracuse Police Department, American Medical Response and National Grid also responded to the scene.
Firefighters were initially told to retreat to the third floor, but later got word to leave the vacant Syracuse building.
Six minutes after firefighters were evacuated, a chimney collapsed on the Motherhouse of St Anthony's Convent.
