Stellato-Dudek, a 2000 World Junior Championships silver medalist in singles for the U.S., spent 15 years in retirement before returning in pairs and then switching to Canada. Last year, she became at age 40 the oldest female figure skater to win a world title in any of the four disciplines.

For the first time in nearly a decade, the world figure skating championships are back on United States soil in Boston. The mixed pairs freeskate competition will take place in the night portion on Thursday.

Ilia Malinin, the only skater in history to land a quad axel in competition, will be one of three American men to perform their short programs.
