Due to heavy rain, the City of Tyler Water Utilities is temporarily closing all public boat ramps on Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East as of Thursday morning.

Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East boat ramps reopened at 4 p.m. on Friday, according to the city.

It was a morning of confusion at the Lake Hancock boat ramp gate.

Canyon Lake's ongoing battle with drought has shut down all 23 ramps to the body of water. The last public boat ramp will see its final day on November 1.

The ramp had been closed since Aug. 7 because of extremely high water levels in Lake Hancock caused by Hurricane Debby.
