Michael Bond, the British writer whose ursine creation, Paddington Bear, became one of the most beloved characters in the animal kingdom of children’s literature, died June 27 at his home in London.

His maker Michael Bond died in June 2017 aged 91 but Paddington lives on, the writer’s ex-wife, widow and daughter tell me as I meet them ahead of a BBC documentary about the great man.
