Ethiopia’s Nile dam was completed without agreement, sparking regional tensions as Egypt and Sudan raise water security concerns.

Sudan and Egypt are concerned about its effect on their water supply, but Abiy says the dam will benefit them all.

Ethiopia announced on Thursday it has completed construction of its massive Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD) on the Blue Nile and invited downstream rivals Egypt and Sudan to an inauguration ceremony in a bid to ease long-running tensions over the project.
