Karen Baker, Arkansas' new Supreme Court chief justice, was sworn in on Wednesday in the courtroom of the Van Buren County Courthouse in Clinton -- the same courtroom where, in 1987, she argued her first case as an attorney.

CLINTON, Ark. – Incoming Arkansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Karen Baker took her oath of office in Clinton on Wednesday. Oaths for state office are typically made in Little Rock, but Baker wanted to take her oath back where it all began for her.

Karen Baker, who chose to take the oath of office in her hometown of Clinton, became the first woman in Arkansas history to hold the position of Chief Justice.
