North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein gave an update on social media at 2 p.m. on July 7 after Central and Eastern North Carolina had flooding from Chantal.

Tropical Storm Chantal caused significant flooding and road closures across central North Carolina, particularly in Chatham and Orange Counties. The Haw River reached its second-highest recorded level, cresting at 32.5 feet. Local states of emergency were declared in several counties, and roughly 120 roads remained closed as of Monday afternoon.
