British Columbians are awaiting the final tally of last week's razor-thin provincial election, with several ridings that could determine the next government still hanging in the balance.
Provincial election still too close to call, final results will take a week
“Sixteen districts are continuing to count out-of-district ballots. These ballots take longer to count for several reasons. With B.C.’s vote anywhere model, some districts are reporting out-of-district results from dozens of other contests. Write-in ballots also take longer to count than ordinary ballots,” Elections BC continued.
Voting machines did not delay results in British Columbia election
The Canadian province of British Columbia is recounting some votes in an October 2024 election to confirm which party will form a government, but the delayed results are not a product of malfunctioning technology.
