President Donald Trump's push for Republican-led states to redraw their U.S. House of Representatives districts to protect their majority in next year's midterm elections could set the stage for Republicans to dominate the chamber in decades to come,

After Texas and California, the legislative action in a nationwide redistricting battle is set to move to Missouri and three other Republican-led states.

President Trump on Saturday reupped his support for Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R), just hours after the state legislature advanced new congressional maps that could give the GOP up to five more seats in the House during next year’s midterms.

Gov. Greg Abbott is expected to sign the bill into law, setting up race to redraw maps in California to neutralize Republican gains.
