Of the eight total cases of measles in New Mexico — all in Lea County — four were among adults and the remaining four among children under 18.
The (NMDOH) reports two adult Lea County residents tested positive for measles Thursday– as confirmed by the NMDOH Scientific Laboratory Division - totaling to three cases this week. New Mexico meets the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s outbreak criteria with three unrelated cases in Lea County.
Two cases of measles were detected in metro Atlanta last week; this week, one case was confirmed in New Mexico, and an outbreak in West Texas is growing, with 24 cases, according to the state health department.
