Rangers Acquire J.T. Miller, Erik Brannstrom, and Jackson Dorrington
New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has acquired forward J.T. Miller as well as defensemen Erik Brannstrom and Jackson Dorrington from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forward Filip Chytil, defenseman Victor Mancini and a conditional first round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

The Rangers sent center Filip Chytil, defenseman Victor Mancini and a 2025 conditional draft pick to Vancouver. New York also received defensemen Jackson Dorrington and Erik Brannstrom.
The Hurricanes sent Martin Necas, Jack Drury and multiple draft picks to the Avalanche in exchange for Rantanen, while Taylor Hall joined Carolina from Chicago. The Blackhawks took on 50% of Rantanen’s salary and received a third-round pick in return, making the deal more palatable for the Hurricanes.
Jonathan Drouin had two goals and added an assist, Martin Necas scored his first goal with Colorado, and the Avalanche scored four in the first period to beat the St. Louis Blues 5-0 in Denver on Friday night.
Miller, 31, is the big prize in the deal. He’s had a down year amidst reports of a fractured locker room in Vancouver. The Canucks were expected to move either him or Elias Petterson in hopes of breaking up the discontent on that team. Miller has nine goals and 26 assists this season after three straight seasons of at least 30.
In 119 previous regular-season matchups, the Avalanche are 62-44-13 against the Blues. The Avs have won all three playoff series against the Blues, winning 4-1 in the 2001 Western Conference Final, 4-0 in the 2021 First Round and 4-2 in the 2022 Western Conference Second Round.
