The cause of Thursday's devastating crash of an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner is not yet known, but it could complicate the jet maker's path forward as it tries to finalize an agreement with the US government over two other crashes that happened in the past decade.
A trial that was set to begin in less than three weeks was canceled by a Texas judge at the request of Boeing and the Department of Justice, according to court documents.
Boeing revealed that it had signed a new non-prosecution agreement (NPA) with the DOJ on May 29, 2025, which specified that the company will not face further criminal charges, provided it fully complies with all the outlined terms.
