BOISE — One backcountry destination that has grown popular in recent years, particularly with kokanee salmon anglers, is Deadwood Reservoir in central Idaho, southeast of Cascade.
Campgrounds in the Deadwood Reservoir area were closed at the start of Labor Day weekend, as the Bearskin Fire was growing, with hot, dry conditions in the weekend forecast.
The Buck Fire, burning eight miles northeast of Deadwood Reservoir, is now 25 percent contained, held to just over 1,200 acres. The fire started Sunday and is believed to be human-caused.
