A Georgia State Patrol chase that that killed a 19-year-old bystander in Atlanta last week thrust the agency into the middle of a public debate about police pursuits.

An Atlanta mother wants to see changes in police pursuit policy after her son was allegedly hit and killed by a woman fleeing a state trooper in Little Five Points.

Georgia State Patrol said the suspect ran a red light at Little 5 Points, smashing into the Cooper Schoenke’s car and killing him. He was 19 years old.
