A Mexican Senate commission has approved the entry of members of the U.S. Army’s 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) into the country starting this week.

The news comes after a U.S. destroyer, which has a high-energy laser weapon, deployed to Japan in October 2024.

Any intelligence gathered from Mexican territory would have to be shared under agreements between the two countries, Defense Minister Ricardo Trevilla said.
