Arkansas state officials reported Monday that fire-related deaths in the state have surpassed last year’s total.

According to the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management, 34 fire-related deaths have been recorded this year, surpassing the total of 27 deaths in 2024.

This year, 34 people have died from fire. John White, Jonesboro Fire Marshal and Captain, said they haven’t seen any deaths in the Jonesboro area, but said the state overall has seen an increase.
