After throwing a commendable number of innings, he experienced a slight setback that prompted team medical professionals to caution against continuing to pitch.

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Jordan Montgomery will have Tommy John surgery for the second time and will miss the 2025 season.

The Chicago White Sox have seen their pitching staff ravaged by injuries this spring, with Drew Thorpe the latest to go under the knife.

Montgomery was part of the 2023 World Series-winning Texas Rangers after he was traded from the St. Louis Cardinals in July of that season. Coincidentally, he pitched against the Diamondbacks in Game 2 of the World Series, giving up a 9-1 loss.
