Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson on Friday refused to say whether he will return $150,000 Chicago rapper Lil Durk contributed to the mayor’s political committee, a day after the artist was arrested in an alleged murder-for-hire plot.

Durk "has not been convicted of anything. ... It is not my position to determine the outcome of someone’s life," Johnson said, noting that after "the trauma that he grew up in," Durk "has worked to turn that trauma into opportunities for other people.

Durk, through his Henderson, Nevada-based LLC called 'The Voice Touring,' contributed $150,000 to Johnson in June 2023, one month after Johnson's inauguration. Durk is listed in records as the manager of The Voice Touring LLC.
