Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration has already signed at least $245 million in state contracts to set up and run the new immigration detention center in the Florida Everglades.

Several Florida nonprofits, medical professionals, public health experts and families impacted by the Alligator Alcatraz detention facility in the Everglades are calling for it to be shut down due to what they are calling inhumane conditions and environmental damage.

Environmentalists suing to stop the detention center for illegal migrants known as Alligator Alcatraz did so in the wrong venue,
