Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday slammed the government for the way Indians staying illegally in the United States were deported and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar must answer on the issue.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday criticised the Central government over the deportation of alleged illegal Indian immigrants from the United States, questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stance on the issue.

The deported Indians alleged that their hands and legs were cuffed throughout the journey and they were unshackled only after landing at the Amritsar airport.

Replying to the two-day discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the president's address, Prime Minister Modi hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying those speaking of fighting the Indian state can appreciate neither the Constitution nor national unity as he launched a counter-offensive in Lok Sabha against the Opposition.
