The Nintendo Switch 2 officially drops on Thursday, June 5, and it will be available to purchase at Walmart, Target, GameStop and Best Buy. However, seeing as preorders for the new console and its “Mario Kart World” bundle sold out in minutes, you’ll have to act fast to make sure you can bring it home on launch day.

Some people reported an unwelcome surprise after picking up their Nintendo Switch 2 preorders at GameStop: staples used to attach receipts to Switch 2 boxes ended up damaging the screens on the console, as reported by IGN. However, GameStop says this was an issue that was “isolated” to a single store and that it has already offered replacements.
This is also a good reminder that outside of the Switch 2 launch, this week is a great time for gaming with the recent PlayStation showcase and all the of the Summer Game Fest events coming up.
The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 saw a hiccup, at least in New York, as some GameStop customers reported purchasing damaged devices.
