At least 8 people are dead and flood rescues are ongoing after Tropical Storm Chantal dropped 12 inches of rain across parts of North Carolina

Ready for another round of heavy rain and possible severe storms? Severe weather is possible again today for parts of North Carolina after widespread flash flooding in the Piedmont Triad Wednesday night.

The threat of flash flooding returned to North Carolina on Thursday, only days after Tropical Depression Chantal dumped heavy rain across the central part of the state, flooding homes and highways and leading to dozens of rescues.
