Penn State quarterback Drew Allar was not on the field for the Nittany Lions' first drive in the second half. Broadcast cameras showed him standing on Penn State's sideline without a helmet and with a towel over his head as backup Beau Pribula led the offense out.

Dennis-Sutton came out of the halftime locker room with a noticeable limp, favoring his right side. As the Penn State offense (missing QB Drew Allar) took the field, Dennis-Sutton spoke with trainers and defensive line coach Deion Barnes. He worked on the stationary bike for a bit before entering the game.
