Tim Andrews, 66, was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease more than two years ago. Since then, he's treated his condition with dialysis, leaving him constantly fatigued and unable to keep up with the pace of regular activities.
Surgeons Transplant Engineered Pig Kidney Into Fourth Patient
It was the fourth pig kidney transplant in the United States, and the first of three that will be done at Mass General as part of a new clinical trial sanctioned by the Food and Drug Administration.
