Rochester's Mayo Clinic is suing health insurer Sanford Health Plan for not paying claims for a patient who was at Mayo Clinic for 52 days in 2022. In the lawsuit, Mayo Clinic alleges the patient was transferred to Rochester from North Dakota to receive a higher level of care.

Mayo Clinic is seeking $740,000 in the lawsuit, which claims a breach of contract and "negligent misrepresentation" in the case of one patient’s hospital stay.
