Edgar Wright's horror-comedy 'Shaun of the Dead' has become a cult classic over the years, and in honor of its 20th anniversary, it’s even coming back to theaters.

Shaun of the Dead also kicked off the “Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy,” a trio of comedy films from Wright, Pegg, and Frost that also consists of 2007’s Hot Fuzz and 2013’s The World’s End.

The title "Shaun of the Dead” is a reference to George R. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, and his films get referenced plenty. There is also a shout-out to another British zombie movie, 28 Days Later .

On Sept. 24, 2004, Universal bowed the zombie comedy film Shaun of the Dead in theaters stateside. The film, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, went on to gross $30 million during its global run.

Since the release of Shaun of the Dead in 2004, Wright returned to a similar well for the other two entries in the so-called Cornetto Trilogy, Hot Fuzz (2007) and The World’s End (2013).
