Chester Williams, Belize police commissioner, identified the hijacker as Akinyela Taylor and said he was a U.S. military veteran.

The hijacker, Akinyela Taylor, was an assistant football coach at McCluer North High School for about six months in 2018-2019, a spokeswoman for the Ferguson-Florissant School District said.
