Mahomes is coming off of a bit of a down year. He completed 67.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 16 games, while also running for 307 yards and two more scores.

The Chiefs emphasized incorporating big pass plays last year at this time as well, but they rarely materialized in the regular season.
