A bomb threat at the Kennedy Center caused evacuations and road closures Thursday afternoon. The threat was targeted at Shen Yun performances. Police are active on Rock Creek Parkway, blocking lanes between Virginia Avenue and Parkway Drive. Virginia Avenue westbound at 27th Street is also closed due to the ongoing police activity.

The United States Park Police and D.C. police are on the scene of an investigation at the Kennedy Center Thursday morning. The Kennedy Center said the building was evacuated “due to a bomb threat targeting Shen Yun performances.

Park Police are at the center with canine units in response to a bomb threat. The city’s explosives division is assisting, officials said.

A spokesperson for the Kennedy Center said the building had been evacuated "due to a bomb threat targeting Shen Yun performances."
