Fox Weather on MSNFlash flooding slams Ruidoso again as New Mexico town feels impacts from wildfire burn scar
A Flash Flood Warning was issued Thursday afternoon for the village of Ruidoso and surrounding areas after heavy rainfall from monsoonal thunderstorms triggered flooding and water rescues around burn scar areas.
Shortly after the largest wildfire in New Mexico history, a flash flood in July 2022 sent water raging through burn-scarred Tecolote Creek in rural San Miguel County.
Albuquerque has issued a flood watch for parts of central New Mexico, including the South Central Mountains. The flood watch is in effect
New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham was in Ruidoso on Thursday, July 10, 2025, where she reported federal funding will be coming.
"Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches in the South Fork Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places.
