“You may hear Sophie Cunningham say something today in the Fever postgame presser about a press release stating that Caitlin Clark is day-to-day. Cunningham misspoke. That was not in a press release or the current status of Clark,” East wrote on X.
Sophie Cunningham Turns Heads With Her Outfit for Fever-Liberty Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Caitlin Clark has only appeared in 13 of the Indiana Fever's 25 games to this point of the 2025 WNBA season. She's dealt with a left quad injury, a left groin injury and, most recently, a right groin strain.

“I Don’t Think It Affects Us Anymore”: Sophie Cunningham Gets 100% Real on Caitlin Clark’s Absence
Despite Clark’s absence, however, the Fever were still able to secure a crucial win against the Las Vegas Aces, 80-70, on Thursday night. Sophie Cunningham got the start again with Clark sidelined, and the veteran guard responded with another strong showing, finishing with 15 points, three rebounds and three triples in 33 minutes of action.
Even without Caitlin Clark in the lineup, the Fever pulled off an upset win of the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday night, 80-70. Cunningham was as efficient as ever, only missing one shot the whole night en route to 15 points.
The Fever (12-11) are without Caitlin Clark as she considers how to deal with her latest injury, so All-Stars Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell will assume larger roles. The Liberty (15-6) have the best record in the Eastern Conference and have won their last three games.
Before the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend, Indiana suffered its 11th loss of the season in a 98–77 defeat to the same Liberty team. With Clark out, the Fever turned to her usual replacement, Aari McDonald, who had earned the starting spot earlier in the year.
