Jerod Mayo has been a man of many media miscues in his first season as Patriots head coach. We don’t need to go through all of them right now, but seemingly every week Mayo makes a statement that’s head-scratching or needs to be walked back a day later.

Jerod Mayo is trying to do an honorable thing but he’s missing the bigger picture. On Wednesday, the first-year Patriots coach sure sounded like he planned to start rookie quarterback Drake Maye in the Patriots’ game against the Bills on Sunday even though Buffalo is expected to rest and limit a large percentage of its regulars.
